Description

Known as a "bouquet sou" for the bouquet of rosebuds on the obverse, this particular type is a favorite among collectors for its amusing language error. In French "sous" is plural and "sou" is singular. The English equivalent would be a 1 penny coin with "ONE PENNIES" on the back. The mistake was the result of English speakers making French coins in bilingual Canada.
